Privacy, in short

We only collect what we need to run the game and keep your account yours. We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. You can change your mind any time.

The short version

  • We collect the basics: an email, the name you choose to show, and what you do in your leagues.
  • Your match predictions stay yours until kickoff — they're only revealed and scored once a match starts.
  • We use what we collect to run the game, show standings, and email you about your account and your leagues.
  • We rely on a handful of trusted providers to keep the lights on (hosting, sign-in, email, analytics).
  • You can edit or delete your account whenever you like.
  • Questions? Email hello@nutmego.com.

What we collect

Almost all of this comes from you, directly. We don't buy data and we don't scrape it from anywhere else.

  • Account basics — your email address and, if you set one, a display name, handle, and avatar.
  • Gameplay activity — the leagues you join, the power-ups you apply, the bonus answers you submit.
  • Your match predictions — held privately until each match kicks off, then scored automatically against the result and shown to your league-mates. We don't peek at picks before they're locked.
  • Activity in the app — pages you visit, features you use, the device and browser you visit from. We use this in aggregate to fix bugs and decide what to build next.
  • Email engagement — whether our messages bounced or were marked as spam. We use this to stop emailing addresses that don't want to hear from us.

How we use it

  • Run the game: score your picks, show standings, resolve power-ups.
  • Keep you signed in and your account secure.
  • Send you the emails you've opted into and the ones you need (password resets, magic links, league invites).
  • Understand which features get used, which don't, and what to improve.
  • Stop abuse and protect the integrity of the game.

We do not use your data to train large language models, build advertising profiles, or sell to data brokers. Full stop.

Who else sees it

To run a product like this we rely on a small set of third-party providers. They each see a slice of your data so we can do something with it — never the whole picture, and never for their own marketing use. The categories are:

  • Hosting & database — to serve the app and store your account and predictions.
  • Authentication — to verify it's really you when you sign in.
  • Email delivery — to actually get our emails to your inbox.
  • Analytics & error tracking — to measure how the app is used in aggregate and notice when something breaks. We try to keep this lightweight and minimise personally identifying details where we can.

We choose providers we trust to handle data responsibly. If you want the current list of categories, write to us and we'll share it.

Cookies and local storage

We use cookies and similar storage on your device to keep you signed in and to remember your settings. We also use them to measure anonymous usage — how many people landed on a page, how many clicked a button — so we can iterate. We do not use cookies for advertising.

You can clear cookies any time from your browser. Doing so will log you out and reset your preferences.

How long we keep things

  • Your account stays until you delete it. From the moment you ask, we begin removing your personal data; some technical logs and backups roll off over the following weeks.
  • Predictions and scores stick around for the rest of the tournament so standings make sense; we may keep de-identified aggregates afterwards.
  • Suppression list (emails that bounced or marked us as spam) is kept indefinitely so we don't accidentally re-mail them.

Your choices

  • Edit your profile any time from your profile page.
  • Unsubscribe from each kind of email with one click — every non-essential email has the link in its footer.
  • Delete your account from the danger zone on the profile page. We'll remove your personal data and your predictions; aggregate stats may persist.
  • Ask us anything by emailing hello@nutmego.com. We'll respond.

Younger users

Nutmego is built for adults. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, write to us and we'll remove the account.

Changes to this page

When we change anything that materially affects what we collect or how we use it, we'll let you know via the app or email before it takes effect. Routine clarifications and wording fixes we just ship.
